Mybreastcanceranswers,

I’ve got a few ideas for how you can more efficiently promote your Facebook page. First, since the invitations to your Facebook page, for whatever reason, didn’t go through to your friends, I would send a Facebook message to them from your personal account and include the URL for your new Facebook page. Also include a little message about the page just to give them an idea of what it is about and why they should visit it, just incase they don’t already know.

If you want to pursue fans of a Facebook page that already exists, comment on its wall either as your fan page or as yourself. Let the users know that if they like this page, they will probably like yours! You can also attach a link to a wall post, so you might consider attaching the URL for your Facebook fan page – it will make it so the info you have for that page appears on the wall post.

Some people do block wall posts on fan pages, so if you can’t post to a wall don’t be discouraged. In that case, just like their page and then users will see your page when they’re browsing that page.

If you want to go outside of your personal network, I also recommend using twitter. It’s a great way to raise awareness about causes and it also has some great tools for looking up people by interest (twellow.com is my personal favorite for that). Just put your Facebook fan page URL in your profile when it asks you for your website URL that way people can easily find your fan page.

Chances are if someone has a twitter, they also have a Facebook. So just start following people with the interests you want to target and tweet to them to check out your fan page and support the cause!

My last suggestion would be to Google search for blogs related to the interests you want to target and connect with those bloggers. Bloggers, especially indexed by Google for certain interests, are usually very supportive of causes and will generally lend their support to good causes.

You can reach out to bloggers by either emailing them or using their “contact me” form. Bloggers also usually have links to their twitter and Facebook accounts for easy access from readers, so if email is not possible you may want to take the social approach.

I hope this helps!
